Position Description:
Positions available for Moline, Gurnee, St. Charles, Bloomingdale, Evanston, Arlington Heights, Tinley Park and Naperville, ILScholastic has recently developed a new Corporate / Hospital Book Fair Division, with the mission of bringing quality educational books and gift items to Corporations and Hospitals. Our products include name brand books for children and adults across a variety of subject matter including: Books for children of all ages - books on Cooking, Inspirational subjects, History, Sports, Games and Crafts. . . In addition, we carry gift products such as Music CD's, Computer Software, DVD's and Organizers and offer practical gift giving solutions to business people in the workplace.We are immediately seeking to fill Book Fair Merchandiser positions to assist in our Corporate Book Fairs! Responsibilities to include: 1. Conduct selected revenue-building activities to optimize Book Fair financial results for the school and the company. (i.e.; Directed setups, Family Event Prep, Volunteer Training, and Teacher Preview)2. Identify, communicate and respond to opportunities to impact sales and customer satisfaction with each customer.3. Develop expertise in our product, merchandising, and services in order to offer each customer the best guidance on conducting bigger and better events.4. Represent Scholastic Book Fairs in a manner that assures our customers delight with our product, process, and services.5. Support our mission to encourage reading and promote lifelong learning, and demonstrate our values of caring and respect for all people.6. Perform duties in a timely and efficient manner and work on projects as identified and assigned by the Field Sales Manager.7. Operate cash register/calculator and maintain accurate financial records in the collection of sales receipts.8. Follow proper procedures in the use of coupons, special offers, etc where applicable.9. Fair set-up and tear-down.10. Replenish product on Fair Shelves.11. Maintains regular attendance in accordance with event schedule.12. Ensure proper handling of customer financial information.13. Assist event customers.14. Assist Event Lead as necessary.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of two (2) years of successful experience in merchandising, retail or district/ territory sales, event management, personal selling, or customer service.2. Proficiency with MS Office software.3. Ability to build and grow revenue while adding value for customers.4. Familiarization with children's literature, Book Fairs, and school activities helpful.5. Ability to execute a vision, manage multiple priorities, and achieve results.6. Strong oral and written communication skills, including oral presentation skills.7. Demonstrated customer orientation.8. Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills - with peers, superiors and customers.9. Proficient in marketing and merchandising strategy and execution.10. Professional business attire and appearance.11. Current and valid driver's license with good driving record required.12. Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs, push/pull cases up to 300 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions 13. High school diploma or general education degree (GED).14. Ability to read and comprehend instructions (either written or oral), correspondence, and memos. 15. Comfortable with numbers and simple math: ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.16. Ability to get along with co-workers and work as a member of a team.17. Ability to work overtime when required.18. Must have reliable transportation.19.
