We are looking for the following talented individuals to join our team at our corporate office in beautiful downtown Santa Barbara.  ASSISTANT PRODUCT MANAGER 

Assists Product Managers in the development and design of the women’s merchandising lines.  Assists Vice President of Women’s Merchandising in preparation and updating of documents provided to Advertising, Finance and other departments as needed. Provides general department assistance.



 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following.

 

§With training, measures and specs garments for development.  Prepares and ships development packages.

§ Enters specification data, care and content information into Style Manager/PDM system.

§ Tracks development and photo samples with vendors and advertising department.

§ Responsible for communicating with vendors regarding status of protos and photo samples.

§ Under supervision of Product Manager and V.P. of Women’s Merchandising, creates and updates cost detail sheets.

§ Actively participates in seasonal development meetings with the opportunity to contribute ideas for new product development including fabrications, yarns, colors and silhouettes.

§ Records development meeting and buy meeting data for spreadsheet maintenance.

§ Must know of all active products within Assistant’s assigned product categories by description and/or style number. 

§ Creates and updates presentation boards for current season as well as historical analysis to include exposures and demand/1000.

§ Responsible for checking product selling and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of product performance within assigned product categories.

§ Reviews master spreadsheet (delphi) for styles/exposures/book and sku count accuracy.

§ Formats color palates for merchandisers as well as key vendors.  Places orders for replacement colors.

§ Works in Yunique system to update Product Tracking window and train in creating technical spec. packages.

§ Writes and sends sample fabric purchase orders.

§ Assists Vice President of Women’s Merchandising in the creation, distribution and updating of Folios for Advertising.

§ Organizes samples for seasonal product reviews with other departments.

§ Reviews copy and pre-production catalogs for product information and exposure accuracy.

§ Keeps sample room organized.

§ Orders office supplies.

§ Relates to all vendors and fellow workers in a levelheaded, professional and fair manner.

§ Represents The Territory Ahead in a positive, fair and constructive way that will foster strong relationships.

§ Other duties may be assigned.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND EXPERIENCE



 

§ Must be proficient in Excel.

§ Must be proficient in Word.

§ Proficiency in Illustrator strongly preferred.

§ Minimum of one year of apparel industry or retail apparel experience required.

§ With training, able to sketch and enter numerical and written data in Style Manager/PDM system.

§ Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills.

§ Must be able to communicate clearly, calmly and effectively verbally and in writing to co-workers and outside vendors and manufacturers.  Able to adapt to the communication/cultural styles of the company and other cultures with which the company interacts.

§ Must be able to multi-task.

§ Ability to foster a positive and professional work environment.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms and have sufficient mobility to not impose undue danger to him/herself or others.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to use measuring tools and see details of garments.
