We are currently seeking Legal Counsel to join the Dunkin' Brands Legal team!
This senior-level attorney will serve as legal advisor to the Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins International teams as well as to one or more internal departments. Serves as an enabler and strives to be a partner of the team and internal client(s) while assuring compliance with the law.
The primary accountabilities for this position include:
Substantial review and negotiation of contracts. Coach and counsel direct reports. Work collaboratively with all levels of corporate management and Legal Department members, providing strategic and tactical advice. Resolve disputes. Champion change and process improvements. 10 to 40% travel involved.
Contributions
· Performs fundamental legal work (including transactional drafting and negotiating) and legal counseling of internal clients and paralegal staff in connection with designated legal fields and special projects. Assist in the resolution of disputes between clients and franchisees/licensees or third parties.
Accountabilities
· Skill development and competence in designated legal fields (including franchise law) by creating and following a development plan with supervisor (e.g., in real estate field, negotiation of subleases, riders to leases with landlords, supervise execution of subordination agreements and estoppel certificates, etc.)
· Successful and timely completion of assigned tasks and special Legal Dept. projects by ensuring proper and accurate documentation and providing guidance to paralegal staff and internal clients
· Corporate compliance in designated areas by developing and overseeing compliance policies and appropriate documentation (e.g., Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, ADA compliance, corporate record keeping, etc.)
The qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to the following:
· Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school and admitted to practice law in Massachusetts or another state.
· 3 or more years experience as an attorney, preferably with some experience as in-house counsel.
· Strong work ethic and attention to detail. Team orientation. Strong negotiating and drafting skills.
· Communication skills.
· Excellent legal and business judgment.
· Strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently on a wide range of issues and projects.
· Experience in, as applicable to assigned duties, franchise law, international law, regulatory law, supply chain law or marketing law preferred.
· Solid experience in corporate governance and regulation.
· Cultural awareness and acceptance of diverse environments.
