Director of Food Retail
Our client was founded in 1962. They are privately owned and sales are approximately 550 million. They have about 8500 employees and are located in 10 states. The organization is a leader in the food service industry. They are currently expanding their campus dining division. We are currently searching for a Director of Retail to run their different retail food venues on campus. The opportunity is located in Detroit, MI. Position Overview This individual is responsible for supervising a variety of duties pertaining to guest service and payment of services, including: the payment by cash or other means for goods and services, the making of change, issuing receipts, recording amounts received, summarizing funds received, and verifying cash at the beginning and end of shift. The Retail Manager maintains proper security of cash; maintains proper staffing, associate evaluations, corrective action, inventory and purchasing as necessary. This individual maintains or exceeds revenue budget for the current year; ensures proper food and physical safety and sanitation of the cash area; and fosters positive and professional working relationships intra and interdepartmentally. This person supervises the operations of all retail venues on campus. Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Minimum education includes a High School degree or equivalent with ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language; ability to verbalize directions clearly and accurately; and ability to perform mathematics as they relate to the quantifying of restaurant receipts, point of sale cash control system and department budget. The individual in this role must be able to follow and give written and verbal instructions; must have a basic understanding food preparation and cooking methods. This individual must possess the ability to comprehend and guide others in understanding guest service principles as they relate to retail service. Ability to supervise and train associates, to include organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments is required. Professional appearance must be maintained at all times. A minimum of three years retail experience directly related to the duties specified in the campus or retail environment is required. Management/Degree preferred.
