Director, Risk Management
VICORP Restaurants, Inc., an established leader in family-dining owns and operates two proven and well recognized brands, Village Inn and Bakers Square. Founded in 1958, VICORP has 250 corporate owned and 93 franchisee operated restaurants in 26 states.
We have an immediate need for a Director, Risk Management to join our team. In this position, you will be responsible for protecting and preserving the assets, reputation, employees and customers of the Company by identifying, assessing, and managing risks; determining, implementing and managing effective methods to accomplish the above. This position reports to the VP of Finance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Responsible for the overall management of workers compensation, general liability and property claims to ensure timely cost effective outcomes.
Ø Work with all departments to ensure that appropriate actions are taken when incidents / accidents occur to minimize their impact on the Company.
Ø Oversee and ensure that effective programs are in place and utilized to minimize cost of accidents. Supervise in-house claims management personnel and TPAs to ensure that customer incidents are responded to timely and resolved in a manner that is satisfactory to both our customers and the Company.
Ø Oversee and ensure that incidents involving damage to or loss of company property are communicated to appropriate personnel for corrective action. Manage property claims and oversee recovery activities.
Ø Evaluate contractual language as it pertains to indemnification agreements and risk transfer of vendors, lessors, suppliers, transporters, etc.; ensure that contracts protect the rights of VICORP and that VICORP has the appropriate coverage for its contractual obligations.
Ø Manage the insurance renewal process; make recommendations regarding coverage and retentions; analyze coverage.
Ø Work with Operations and Quality and Assurance to develop effective loss reduction programs and to monitor their effectiveness.
Ø Gather loss information for loss development updates. Provide appropriate reporting of risk-related information to Management, Operations, and Accounting.
Ø Develop insurance allocations and oversee and maintain the Loss Allocation program.
Ø Oversee and manage all insurance related vendors including brokers, third party administrators, medical services, etc.
Ø Maintain knowledge of current developments and trends in risk management, loss prevention, and insurance.
Ø Coordinate and facilitate the Company crisis management plan.
Ø Administer and direct all aspects of Risk Management department, including hiring, training and development of staff, disciplinary action, and budget responsibility.
Ø Directly supervises employees in the Risk Management Department.
Ø Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in accordance with VICORP’s human resources policies and organization philosophy.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Ø Bachelor’s degree in Science or Business Administration required.
Ø ARM, CPCU or similar risk and insurance related designation.
Ø Minimum 2 years as Risk Manager or equivalent experience required.
Ø At least five + years work experience in Risk Management
