Asset Protection Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:This position is responsible to maintain sales audit and banking functions for the restaurants. Audit income statements and ensure that cash handling procedures are being followed by restaurant management. Perform analytical reviews of related activity and expenses.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:*Prepare restaurant audits to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Document and provide information to support audit findings. Report findings to department management and recommend solutions/resolutions of any issues.Audit and review the restaurant level Weekly Income Statement data to ensure that proper cash handling procedures are being followed. Perform trend analyses and review reports and procedures to assist in identifying trends in relation to the income statementsUtilize exception based reporting of assigned accounts to detect compliance issues, theft or control deficiencies.Assist with the review of exception based reporting of assigned accounts to detect compliance issues, theft or control deficiencies.Maintain an electronic audit file for each restaurant with information from all accounting areas. Utilize information to complete audits or trend analysis. *Responsible for timely completion of account reconciliations. Reconcile activity in restaurant level depository, cash and disbursement accounts and assist with reconciliation of credit card and gift card accounts.Ensure reconciliation work papers are prepared accurately as required for internal and external audits.Monitor cash and depository accounts for situations with potential impact to overall cash flow or fraudulent activity; communicate findings to Operations and Management.Communicate with management as needed to resolve discrepancies and discuss solutions to ensure proper cash handling. Prepare full documentation of issues and provide timely reporting to alert necessary personnel of potential fraud or theft issues. Work with Security, Internal Audit and Operations as necessary.Track cash till balance exception forms; follow-up with Operations and Security regarding any concerns or issues with cash till balance.Record cash, credit card and gift card variances daily. Act as liaison with banks, credit card and gift card processors, account reconciliation software vendor, company employees and management to ensure information is accurate.Responsible for the reconciliation of restaurant level accounts receivables. Prepare and post journal entries for adjustments and write-offs as necessary. Generate reports from account reconciliation software, and reconcile such reports to both the bank statements and the general ledger; make any necessary adjustments.Review and reconcile miscellaneous accounts as scheduled.*Ensure that all sales data from the restaurants is polled into our accounting system accurately. This includes working with restaurants on ?out of balance? sales data.*Research and resolve variances between posted and actual sales and guest count numbers.*Complete regular analytical reviews of related expenses as required. Prepare and distribute detailed reporting of such to department management.*Assist with preparation of work papers and other information for financial audits.Prepare account analysis as requested by management.*Review balance sheet accounts for accuracy. Make journal entries as necessary for adjustments.*Open and distribute information in a timely manner from the packets sent by restaurants to the corporate office; verify that all restaurant packets are received and follow-up as necessary.*Maintain department documentation for record retention and retrieval.*Review the Positive Pay report; resolve any issues immediately.Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Four-year degree required or equivalent professional experience. Must have strong analytical and technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well within a deadline driven environment.Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.Must be able to handle multiple tasks and priorities, and perform duties with minimal supervision.Must respect and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.Must be able to perform in a fast paced, changing environment.Ability to work as a team in keeping procedures streamlined and efficient.Familiarity with spreadsheet, word processing, financial applications and working knowledge of Oracle Accounting application and Oracle Financial Analyzer (OFA) desired.
