JOB TITLE:  Technical Specialist

 

LOCATION: Various Campus Apartments/Campus Technologies locations, principally based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but with some travel required.

 

 

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

 

To work as part of a team of qualified specialists installing and maintaining technology services (video, data and voice), construction of video, voice and data plant and headend equipment, to quality assure and inspect contractor work, to commission systems and to diagnose problems and provide field support.

 

SCOPE OF WORK:

 

Responsible to: Infrastructure Services Manager

 

Responsible for:  Construction, installation, management, troubleshooting and maintenance of video, voice and data installations on a project and ad-hoc basis.

 

 

MAIN DUTIES:

 

The duties include, but are not limited to:

 Providing specialist knowledge of one or more of the following systems: Desktops, Networks, Video, Telephony systems. Installing, troubleshooting and maintaining technology systems.

 

Profile of the role

An individual in this position will have at least five years relevant industry experience, and currently be employed in the industry. The individual will have a proven track record in Desktop, Network, Video, voice or data systems.

·  Hard skills in network, desktop, voice or video at a practical, hands on level

·  A thorough knowledge of industry best practices.

 

Extensive experience in one or more of the following areas is essential for the role:

 

Desktop and Networks

· Premises wiring experience including Cat5/5e and structured wiring systems, terminations and patching.

· Troubleshooting and fault diagnosis of Ethernet and/or wireless.

· TCP/IP and general ISP services

· Cisco switches and access points

· Microsoft operating systems and office products

 

Video:

·  System splicing

·  System activation and rough balancing

·  Headend installation and commissioning

·  DBS Systems

·  Fiber optic training and certification

·  Fault diagnosis

·  Aerial plant experience

 

Voice:

· Aerial plant experience

· Telco terminations and splicing

· Voice troubleshooting and fault diagnosis

· Switch and voicemail management

· Headend equipment installation and management

· VOIP

 

General:

· Computer and general IT skills, including Microsoft products and tools

· Customer-facing experience and problem resolution
