Position Description:

Works with residents to coordinate, plan, and implement various educational, social, recreational, and other activities and programs that benefit both adults and children living in the community. Prepares promotional material to publicize community events and activities. Maintains knowledge of regulatory compliance and company policies and procedures related to community management.Essential Job Functions1. Practices and implements conduct in accordance with established policies and procedures and division motto of “Exceptional Service is Our Standard.” 2. Plans and organizes resident activities and community events such as movies, resident meetings, outdoor parties, celebrations, craft and hobby groups, and other adult education/recreation activities. Designs and prepares promotional materials to publicize community events to attract and motivate a maximum number of participants and in providing the widest possible range of activities in terms of community interests and needs.3. Coordinates the use of community centers and plans and prepares community events and recreational programs. Solicits resident volunteers to actively participate in the development of community programs.4. Implements special programs such as those to welcome and assist new residents to the community, provide for the welfare of spouses of deployed service members, improvement of neighborhood services, provision for animal care services, promote sports and aquatic activities, and activities to support a tight knit neighborly community.5. Works with organizations such as the Navy’s Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Program, the Marine Corps Community Service Program, Armed Services YMCA, and the Department of Education to provide residents the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of recreational programs and special events. Maintains updated information on health care such as phone numbers for visiting nurse association, local hospitals, and emergency medical service providers.6. Looks for ways to start innovative and new activities and programs.7. Maintains records and monitors the activities budget. Perform events within budget. Purchases and orders supplies needed to support each event. Organizes and takes responsibility for setting up each event. Attend all events and secures help from other associates assigned to the neighborhood team. Organizes and implement clean-up after events.8. Participates as a member of the Resident Advisory Board and serves as its recording secretary.9. Maintains courteous and continuous communication with associates, residents and applicants, in a respectful and professional manner. Communicates with residents and families regarding questions and concerns, and takes steps to answer questions and concerns or refers them to appropriate associates. Responds to all residents in a courteous and prompt manner, prepares correspondence to residents and maintains accurate conversation records.10. Prepares articles for the quarterly newsletter and the Internet website.Education and Experience (Required/Preferred) Skills and abilities normally associated with completion of high school or GED equivalency. Bachelor’s degree in recreation or related field preferred. The ability to read, understand and follow verbal and written instructions is essential. Minimum of two years experience in resident/recreational services and dealing with the public preferred.Special Characteristics May be required to work on weekends and holidays. Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to work with others and foster an environment of teamwork. Attention to detail and the ability to deal with people with skill and diplomacy is a necessity. Must possess good computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
