Our Client

Our client is the real estate platform and operating vehicle of a multi-strategy hedge fund firm started in 1981 which manages over $13 billion.  Through the use of special-purpose funds provided by the hedge fund the real estate company will invest in real estate opportunities on a national basis.  The hedge fund has a spectacular reputation for integrity and performance by pursuing strategies with high risk-adjusted returns, low volatility relative to the stock market, low stock and bond market correlation and low “drawdowns’ relative to the stock market.  The fund has an opportunistic character, so the ability to identify, underwrite, and execute changing strategies will be important.

 

 

The Position, Investment Partner

 

Summary:

The position will be headquartered in west Los Angeles/south bay area.  This position is primarily responsible for supervising a team of professionals in the identification, acquisition, financial performance and the strategic direction and operation of the assets in the portfolio, which may be direct ownership or investing with local operators.  The position will report to the Chief Investment Officer of the company and fund.  The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial mentality in a controlled investment and risk taking environment.  The general partner has a background in real estate investments in the acquiring or developing/re-developing of commercial, residential and resort sectors of the industry.

 

Basically, we need an individual who knows how to source, fund and buy real estate and manage people in the process.

 

Specific Responsibilities Include

 Identification of investment opportunities of existing real estate and developable property.Designing and executing property acquisition plans.Development and implementation of strategic business plan for the assets in the company.Identifying and securing financing alternatives for real estate investments.Spearheading the sale process in terms of strategy, price, listings, and negotiations relative to the sale of owned assets.Assist in underwriting and due diligence activities.Participate in after action review and analysis of acquisitions, to include profitability, spin offs, future acquisitions and lessons learned.Proven track record of managing people, programs and processes.

 

Position Requirements

 Minimum of ten (10) years of related experience with a private property investor, investment bank or other opportunistic profit oriented property investment organizations.Track record of being a deal maker and closer of transactions.Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.  Preference in business administration, finance, real estate, engineering or architecture.  A Masters degree in finance or real estate would be a definite plus.Exceptional financial modeling skills using Excel or Argus.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills.Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.  Argus is a plus.Ability to manage large, complex projects, set priorities and manage a team successfully.Tenacity and relentless pursuit of corporate objectives, tempered with a positive, friendly attitude.Highest degree of energy, honesty and integrity.
