Business Intelligence Specialist
Summary
Under minimum supervision, this position develops, implements, and supports business intelligence applications for accessing, analyzing, and presenting business information. In addition, position may develop ETL processes for creating data marts and may assist the BI Architect with planning/design of BI solutions.
Challenges and Responsibilities
Create BI solutions using a variety of tools (e.g. DecisionStream, ReportNet)Create prototype solutions in an iterative development processAssist in the design and development of data marts Create needed SQL to profile dataParticipate in development and maintenance of standardsCreate and maintain metadata documentationCreate test plans and execute rigorous testing to insure qualitySupport existing BI solutionsDocument BI solutions Assist with training on BI toolsetsParticipate in the selection of BI tools
Skills and Requirements
Strong SQL development skillsSuperior analytical and problem solving skillsInterest in learning new tools and technologies and a demonstrated ability to learn quicklyExperience with enterprise reporting tools (such as Cognos ReportNet, Business Objects, Crystal Reports Server, etc.)Experience with ETL tools is helpful (DecisionStream, Aescential, Informatica, etc.)Understanding of concepts and techniques of data warehousing, dimensional modeling and OLAP is helpful
