The position is responsible for reviewing and maintaining tax exemption files and database. Will also assist with various tax projects, tax audits, GL entries and system reviews. Responsible for researching and issuing vendor related certificates and questions. Will handle tax rate questions and correspond with customers, plants, and sales reps.Responsibilities:Review tax exemption certificate file on a regular basis sending out letters periodically to ensure valid, up to date certificates are on file for all exempt customers. Sort, scan, and file tax exemption certificates. Handle tax related questions and correspondence from plant personal, sales representatives, and customer service. Review various reports and systems tracking errors and subsequently correcting. (SAP Billing Blocks, GEO Code kickouts, etc.)Prepare maintenance and/or journal entries to correct errors.Complete W-9 requests to customers.Maintain tax exemption certificate database by ensuring all records are updated timely and accurately.Process tax write-offs for US/Canadian customers within SAP as instructed by Tax Specialist and/or Tax Analyst.Complete tax reference manuals filing on a regular basis ensuring manuals are up to date.Process Department Check Requisitions and Vendor Set Ups.Handle various duties within the Dept. such as mail/report distribution, supply ordering, photocopying, phone coverage and assisting in Sales Tax Audits as needed.QualificationsIntroductory and intermediate accounting course preferred or equivalent work experience. Working knowledge of how Invoicing, Warehousing, Credit/Accounts Receivable and Customer Master File systems work and how all tax files and Tax Tables interrelate. PC skills required. Familiarity with various software packages helpful. Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
