Responsibilities:

1. Support the SHIP department in all areas of web application design and implementation to include:
Works as a lead web developer spearheading the development of complex web applications for our enterprise collaboration site. Requirements gathering, information architecture, prototype development, and documenting requirements and design guidelines. Conceptualizing and presenting technology solutions of complex business problems to both technically-focused and business focused audiences as well as non-technical business-focused audiences. Highly effective both in a team environment and as an individual.

Requirements:

TECHNICALExtensive knowledge of cross-browser compatibility. Previous work experience with client-side web standards (HTML, CSS, box model, etc.). Skilled in database driven sites and application design and development. Extensive experience in remote scripting & AJAX interactions. Previous work experience with PHP, JSP, ASP, or other similar scripting languages. Previous work experience with Apache, server caching & proxy issues, HTTP, and other web application issues. Experience with Smarty templating engine preferred. Experience with data analytic, reporting, and Data Marts solutions a strong plus. Deep understanding of object-oriented and event-driven programming. Knowledge of web services (XML-RPC, SOAP, etc.). Proficient in XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript coding, PHP site and application development. Proven achievements in the design and implementation of intuitive user-centric interface models.

PROCESS Comfortable working in a multiple OS (Windows, UNIX, LINUX) environment. Be agile while following software development processes.

PLANNING/IMPLEMENTATIONMust fully describe application design and implementation along with scheduling information using appropriate tools (Word, wiki, etc.).
