Senior Technical Project ManagerThis position will be a member of the team responsible for planning, designing, and managing the development and testing of Pearson''s XL platform. The XL platform is a large scale, high-availability online learning system that is used to help teach math, economics, accounting, and finance to over a million students each year. The Senior Technical Project Manager plays a central role in the product team and is responsible for the creation, tracking, and management of the software development schedule. This position is pivotal to the team''s success as it performs a key communication and coordination role among engineering, quality assurance, and product management.Responsibilities:'' Facilitate the process of feature definition and prioritization with product management'' Create and manage the development schedule in conjunction with engineering team'' Oversee day to day development activities with regard to schedule and quality'' Work with the QA Manager to design and review QA strategy and plans'' Coordinate development and testing cycles'' Plan and manage release related activities'' Manage the tracking and disposition of software issues'' Manage project risks and issues'' Provide guidance with respect to product integrations'' Participate in periodic user development conferences and summits with the software engineering team. Characteristics of a successful candidate include: i) flexible, resourceful, with scrupulous attention to detail; ii) results oriented with superior communication, interpersonal, and consensus building skills; iii) comfortable dealing with highly complex issues relating to scalability, data management, and system integrations; iv) enjoys working in a high-energy, team-based environment.Qualifications:'' Bachelors degree, preferably in computer science or equivalent technical experience'' Minimum of 5 years of project management experience'' Strong understanding of relational databases and multi-tiered web applications'' A proven track record in software development with end to end project lifecycle experience'' Experience working with a geographically dispersed team'' Demonstrable evidence of analyzing and documenting complex business processes and experience writing requirements and specifications'' Formal training and/or certification in project management a plus'' Experience in educational publishing a plus Please apply online at www.pearsoned.com/careers with cover letter for full consideration.
