Senior Software Developer - Video Systems
Under the direction of the Team Lead – Video Systems, this position is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of digital video presentation and delivery applications for the Playboy Online team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Development and support of J2EE based applications
2. Implement the division's application architecture, development, and deployment strategies.
3.Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand their needs, design solutions and build appropriate applications.
4. Have key involvement in large-scale corporate initiatives including the design and implementation of video content management, delivery and syndication tools, and other applications as required by the business.
5. Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to eliminate defects and ensure application stability and scalability.
QUALIFICATIONS: Experience building & operating one or more of the following types of systems:, Digital Video Distribution and Streaming, Content Management, Content Personalization, Image Galleries. 5+ years increasingly responsible technology experience, with prior hands-on work experience in applications development related to a company with a major web presence. Direct experience in designing, building, and supporting a very large web presence including first-hand knowledge of scalability & security techniques. Intensive implementation experience with the following technologies: Java/J2EE, Frameworks such as Struts / Spring / Hibernate and EJB, OO Design Patterns, Apache HTTP Server, JBoss Application Server, Tomcat, Oracle. Experience with any of the following a plus: SOA/Web Services (SOAP & REST), AJAX/RIA, LAMP application stack, Source Code Management (Perforce) and Continuous Integration (Cruise), Agile Project Management Tools (Rally), .NET/C# Application Development. Must be comfortable working in a Windows and Linux environment. Experience in a structured, process-oriented software development environment is required. Experience with Agile (XP, Scrum) development methodologies a significant plus Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills as well as being highly self-motivated. Bachelor's degree in CS, MIS, or other technical discipline required; advanced degree a plus.
