You will be part of a dynamic product group committed to making ScienceDirect an example of the best online knowledge discovery product for the scientific and research community. This position is for someone who brings passion, dedication, entrepreneurial attitude, with a deep online product development expertise to an established company with market leading online information products. Qualified candidates should have demonstrated experience exhibiting a full range of online product development skills. Responsibilities: Drive day-to-day product development efforts through entire execution cycle. Gather product requirements, define product vision, prioritize, document and communicate product requirements and functional specifications to engineering team to ensure user requirements are met. Strategize future product direction Develop clear business cases for new projects and/or products as required to receive investment approval. Perform and/or gather relevant analysis and present opportunities in terms of investment/risk to senior management. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with functional departments, development partners, and business partners. Champion products for sales, customers, prospects, and industry analysts. Visit customers to identify customer unmet needs and pain points. Represent products at trade shows; prepare and deliver presentations and product demonstrations.Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. Working career in Academia is a plus. Minimum five year experience in developing and managing online products. Preferably in a publishing and/or information company. Thorough understanding of internet and online media. Experience involving customers in product development. Demonstrated experience in gathering product requirements into a product vision. Solid understanding of internet and online media. Candidates must work effectively in a team environment with a strong ability to establish and foster productive, long-term relationships with internal and external customers. Outstanding written and oral communication skills Candidates must have strong analytical reasoning; be a team player, Candidates must have willingness to experiment, must have passion, leadership,and customer focus skills; be results oriented, innovative and disciplined, and; Must be able to think strategically about customer's unmet needs, product enhancements, and product positioning. A strong understanding of information needs of scientists and researchers is a plus.Responsibilities: • Drive day-to-day online product development efforts through entire conception and development lifecycle. • Define product requirements, prioritize, document and communicate product requirements and functional specifications to development team to ensure user requirements are met. • Write user requirements for product enhancements, including cross-functional input from publishing and sales groups, market research, and user centered design. • Contribute to the development and execution of product strategy to support long and short term goals. • Initiate new product ideas or enhancements to existing products. • Create a product vision and develop online information products that lead the marketplace with innovative information solutions for the scientific and research community. • Perform market research and competitive analysis. • Develop clear business cases for new projects and/or products as required to receive investment approval. • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with functional departments, customers, and business partners. • Champion products for sales, marketing, customers, and industry analysts. •Other Information The preferred level of education for this position is Bachelor's Level Degree.The preferred years of experience for this position is 7 years.Closing Statement We offer an excellent compensation and benefits package as well as a real opportunity for career growth in a growing organization.
