We are currently seeking a Senior Acquisitions Editor of Plant Sciences to join our New York Soho office.

Responsible for increasing company profitability via acquisitions and ongoing management of books and journals in the field of Plant Sciences that are consistent with the company's reputation as a high-quality, high-level publisher of scientific, professional, and reference works.  Involves extensive author contact, proposal review, contract negotiation, acquisition of manuscripts for production, promotional planning and monitoring of sales, budget and financial planning, long-range planning for growth and development of the program and management of editorial support staff. Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills are essential to the position.  Regular business travel is required.

 

Required Background:

- Bachelor’s degree

- A minimum of five years experience in publishing (editorial acquisitions preferred) and/or academic research in the field

- Strong computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet applications, and presentation software
