Reprint Buyer

DescriptionPosition SummaryCoordinates reprint purchasing of all 1, 2, and 4-color printed book product, as well as the re-order of all media and packaging product for designated companies within the Cengage Learning Group.  Processes purchase orders in JDE system, navigates workflow through use of proprietary software applications to determine low-cost vendor.  Works with various outside vendors located in North America and around the world.  Works collaboratively with Production, Inventory and Editorial publishing teams to insure on time delivery of reprints from manufacturing vendors.  Supplies business units with prompt responses on cost and scheduling, obtaining best schedules possible from vendors.  Works to maintain or reduce PP&B, (Print, Paper & Binding) costs and implement buying strategies in compliance with business guidelines. SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Â· Initiates appropriate internal and external documents in relationship to manufacturing processes: cost estimates on reprint panels, paper requirements, purchase orders and related correspondence. Maintains detailed records of correspondence with production team and vendors.· Coordinate paper and component delivery to printers and assemblers.· Schedule manufacturing work with text printers, cover printers, binders, software assembly and specialty packaging vendors to insure accurate and timely shipment of orders. Monitor vendor status reports weekly.· Use of AS400 JDE software to prepare purchase orders, including assembly orders.· Use of proprietary system to communicate workflow with internal business stakeholders.· Use of proprietary system to retrieve pricing for standard scale items and request quotes direct from vendors for non-scale items. · Provide Inventory liasion with cost estimates for reprint panels. Â· Prepare and maintain reprint manufacturing schedules.· Monitor vendor schedule reports and update reprint database for changes. Â· Work with Cost Accounting to reconcile quantity/invoice discrepancies.· Work with Cost Accounting to reconcile inventory balances on hand at offsite vendorsQUALIFICATIONS:· Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience required.  Â· Knowledge of publishing or printing helpful. · Strong math, organizational, negotiation and communication (verbal and written) skills necessary. · Must possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. · Proficiency in Excel, Word and browser-based business systems. · Knowledge of AS400, JDE (or comparable systems) Please apply online at: http://tbe.taleo.net/NA1/ats/careers/requisition.jsp?org=LEARNING&cws=1&rid=1681
