Balmar, Inc. a leading provider of Graphic Communications services in the Washington, DC Metro area is currently seeking an innovative and technically skilled Pre-press Technician to work 2nd shift hours (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM) in our Gaithersburg, Maryland Pre-press department.

 Duties and responsibilities include: Create, import / export or publish Prinergy jobs to PDF as needed; Create hard or soft proofs as specified in job instruction Check proof quality, fold and rule up as necessary; Log all job functions and materials into pre-press database; Transfer jobs via FTP to specified location or to other electronic media source; Perform daily / weekly printer, plate-setter, and plate processor maintenance

Education and experience requirements:

Successful candidates will posses the following skills and attributes :

  A High School diploma or equivalent in experience and education; A minimum of 2 years experience working in a digital pre-press print production environment; Experience with Prinergy PDF work flow and Preps Imposition software or other automated pre-press work flow software; Proficiency in Preflight and Desktop Publishing applications including font management; Computer proficiency MS Office and working knowledge in both Macintosh and Windows operating environments; Clear and effective communication skills (oral and written); Team player with a positive attitude and the ability to adapt to change easily; Job Code : HR-08-MD-017 Division/Department : Balmar, Inc Travel Required : None Skills : Administrative Support -> Department LevelGraphics/Design -> Plotting, Page Layout, Design Layout, Color Usage, 4-color Print Processing
