Online Managing Editor

CXO Media Inc. seeks an experienced Online Managing Editor to help lead a new growth strategy of content coordination and creation for CIO.com. Reporting to our Online Editor in Chief, the central mission for this position will be idea development, freelance management, process improvement and management, staff management, and editorial execution in a
fast-paced, rapidly changing online environment. Responsibilities include assigning and editing original content, as well
as working with beat reporters to plan creative content development for the site. Successful candidates will be able to generate a consistent flow of strong news analysis and story ideas, build a stable of dependable freelancers, juggle staff and freelance assignments, write compelling headlines and decks, coordinate e-mail newsletters, pitch in writing articles when needed, and work well under deadline pressure. He or she should be detail oriented, enthusiastic, reliable under pressure, and committed to exploring the extent of editorial opportunities in the online space. Experience in managing content from internal and external sources is desired. Experience with SEO and SMO is a must. Qualified candidates will have 3-5 years of professional writing, editing, and content production experience; an established track record of building large online audiences and an aptitude for learning new software and technologies. Experience working with content management systems and electronic publishing tools is a must. A Bachelors degree in English or Journalism and a basic understanding of web terminology are preferred.
