News Assistant

NYTimes.com is looking for a News Assistants to work on a variety of journalistic and clerical tasks as members of the night staff of the Web newsroom. The ideal candidate is a recent college grad, a quick learner who enjoys being a jack-of-all-trades and loves the news.
Responsibilities:
- Post material from the newspaper on NYTimes.com in a manner that is consistent with The Times's style and sensibilities.
- Produce corrections and news briefs across a variety of sections.
- Research and write a daily news quiz.
- Develop a deep understanding of how the site is produced by the night staff.
- Act as a liaison between the Web newsroom and the team that manages our digital feed to partners.
Requirements:
- A strong, demonstrable passion for journalism
- Strong computer skills, including a knowledge of HTML and a familiarity with Web-based applications
- The ability to learn new tasks quickly and take initiative to solve problems and work independently
- Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines in a daily production environment
- The ability to communicate effectively across different departments
- Willingness to work a flexible night and weekend schedule
- Writing, editing and research proficiency
