Marketing Manager - Travel Publications and Websites
Responsible for the development and execution of marketing plans for the 9 properties that form the Travel Agent Media Group. These properties are Travel Agent magazine, Home-Based Travel Agent magazine, Luxury Travel Advisor, Premier Hotels and Resorts, TravelAgentCentral.com, TAUniv.com, LuxuryTA.com, PremierHotels.com, and Five-Star Alliance.com. This position is (not limited to) primarily focused on sales promotion for these properties – developing marketing collateral, digital/e-mail promotions, media kits, and sales presentations to help account managers reach the group’s sales goals. In addition, the travel group marketing manager will also conduct market and audience research to further develop sales and audience marketing campaigns. The marketing manager will establish and maintain budgets for all expenses related to executing marketing plans.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops overall marketing plan, campaign, and budget for each product - establishing benchmarks and goals and working in conjunction with publisher, digital marketing director, and sales director.Oversees all writing projects with respect to the promotion of Travel Group publications and digital properties.Creates sales presentations for multiple sales people to assist them in properly representing Travel Group properties.Develop sales and branding collateral, contests, and promotions (sell sheets, postcards, HTML-rich e-mails) for four publications, four Web sites, custom print projects, and related digital products.Manages designers (inside and freelance) on the design of print and HTML promotions.Develops media kits for all travel properties on a yearly (or as needed) basis. Develops concept and USP, writes copy, directs design and production, and manages distribution and inventory.Works closely with production managers on the sourcing of cost-effective printing and paper, collateral distribution, and inventory management.Oversees the participation in trade shows and special events - creation of specific collateral, booth barter/purchase, banners/displays, magazine distribution, and booth management.Maintains e-mail and print databases of advertisers – working with sales coordinator and outside vendors to keep data clean and creating data segments to target specific promotions.Oversees all market research activities – audience, market, and advertiser studies.Writes product announcements, personnel announcements, and press releases as needed.Liaison with developers, designers, and managers from Travel Agent University and Five Star Aliance.Utilizes lyris broadcast e-mail program to execute and track e-mail marketing programs.Interact with external vendors and internal clients to ensure deadlines and requirements are met.Acquires and maintains competitive information/media kits for each publication and Website; develops kill sheets for specific products as needed.Examines and approves all marketing bills – maintains budget within determined parameters on each project.Oversees the coordination of information on publications requested by directory and syndicated research organizations and maintains monthly statistical reports on the performance of publications and sites within the group.Verifies monthly SRDS listings, making changes and deletions where necessary.Maintains advertising and sales sections of all Web sites using content management tool.Results reporting, tracking of projects, and budget tracking.Works closely with sales team, sales coordinator, and Sales Force program to update and maintain contact listings for marketing purposes.Assists director of digital products as needed.

KEY SUCCESS ATTRIBUTES:
Four year college degree in marketing/business.3-5 yrs marketing experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably in media/publishing. Some prior management experience is a definite plus.Must have a demonstrated ability to work independently, make decisions, and communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.Experience in promotional copywriting and message development is essential.Must posses excellent time and project management skills and be organized and detail-oriented.Must demonstrate leadership qualities, the ability to work with a wide-variety of personalities, and the ability to clearly articulate product features and benefits to sales people.Must be Internet savvy, abreast of Web 2.0 trends, and have an eye for creative design and effective sales messaging.
Experience in MS Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with Internet-based content management and broadcast e-mail software. Experience with / understanding of database software, preferably Salesforce or compatible. Some knowledge of Photoshop, inDesign, Dreamweaver, HTML a plus.
