POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for the successful business and editorial management of assigned product and content lines within a changing market and competitive landscape, including implementation of defined standards, workflows, and processes. Responsible for commissioning content, determining best use of available content, defining and maintaining the process for continually updating it and keeping it current. Champions web-based deployment and promotion of electronic and print content. Identifies trends in web content and translates it into increased portal usage with strong focus on metrics, daily page views and premium usage. Partners with product managers, sales and marketing as appropriate to conceive, develop and execute product strategies. The portal of focus will be "Books and Authors".

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage the production operational activities for assigned product and content lines to release quality customer driven products on schedule and within budget. Critically evaluate, develop and adapt workflows to meet changing requirements.
• Manage the daily face of the product - change/refresh the product in accordance with end-user requirements
• Define and implement process for soliciting a moderation of user feedback/comments for the purpose of product accuracy and currency.
• Monitors industry trends, proposes changes and recommendations based on analysis of trends and customer feedback. Responsible for regular review and analysis of content usage metrics.
• Identify, negotiate and secure resources (internal and external) to ensure successful completion of content acquisition, preparation and delivery.
• Manage adherence to defined standards, processes and workflows including quality assurance and continuous improvement.
• Leads continuous improvement efforts for assigned product and content lines in all aspects of production. Ensures consistent adoption of best practices.
• Implement curriculum or learning standards in appropriate educational—K12—products
• Manage budget effectively
• Accountable to train and mentor team members and provide performance feedback to their supervisors

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• BA/BS or equivalent, recent work experience.
• Minimum 4 years experience with print and electronic publishing
• Proven success at understanding and implementing product strategies and performing effectively as a problem solver.
• Subject matter expertise/passion or the ability to acquire it
• Excellent knowledge of open web content products and a desire to exceed customer expectations
• Ability to lead both internal and external teams
• Ability to implement internationalization of content
• Knowledge of production/manufacturing process for output to print
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to partner with, and gain trust of product visionary team
• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills; must be strong at working collaboratively, providing honest and timely feedback.
• Strong financial and business management skills
