Machine Adjuster

1st, 2nd & 3rd Shift
Pay Scale: $12.75 - $17.93
Summary:
The adjuster is responsible for the machine adjustments in the unit, to perform all necessary preventive maintenance routines and to coordinate all activities with other team members.
Principle Duties:
· Maintain machine settings at recommended tolerance levels
· Monitor all instruments, gauges, fluid levels
· Daily preventive maintenance such as oiling, parts inspection and replacement
· Perform minor machine maintenance repairs and contact maintenance personnel when necessary
· Assist the maintenance personnel with all machine repairs
· Monitor machine production and clearing any jams or debris
· Disassemble and rebuild punch machines for die replacement
· Load machines with component parts such as hang tabs, tear bands, closure seals and other materials as needed
· Monitor spare parts inventory
· Coordinate maintenance activities and downtime with team members
· Coordinate necessary production materials with bridge person, floor person and team members complying with documentation such as the follower and bill of materials
· Train other operators on operating procedures and standards
Requirements for this position:
· Knowledge of all duties and requirements of finishing positions such as the stripper, punch operator, inspector and floor person
· Demonstrated mechanical ability and aptitude
· Knowledge of the machines in the unit assigned
· Pass testing requirements
· Ability to retain and follow procedures and standards both written and oral
· Ability to effectively communicate to all team members and management
· Demonstrated problem solving ability
Level of supervision required:
· The adjuster receives the work assignment from the supervisor
· Routine machine maintenance, repairs and loading material parts into machines are performed independently according to standard procedures and methods
· Direction from maintenance personnel for machine repairs and standards
Physical demands and work environment:
· Requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; recurring lifting, moving boxes, pallets, trucks machine parts.
· Requires agility and dexterity.
· Lifting requirements up to 75 lbs.
· Requires the ability to coordinate machine adjustments or work orders within the allotted timeframe
· Involves moderate risks or discomforts and special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, pallets, trucks, machines, air pressure, vacuum lines and exhaust.
· Adjusters are required to use hearing protection; safety shoes and eye protection were necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Minimum 3 to 5 years of work experience
· At least 2 years of machine maintenance back ground
· Pass required adjuster testing and successfully complete trainee program
· High School diploma or equivalent work experience
· Good communication skills, both written and verbal
