POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Mass Market Art Director, the Junior Designer will provide administrative and design support for the Tor –Forge Art Department. As an ideal candidate, you will possess excellent organizational and problem solving skills, thorough attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines, while working both independently and as part of a team.
Major Responsibilities: Communicate with the editors, production and marketing throughout the production process Design book covers on a monthly basis Responsible for mechanicals Design mechanicals Create high resolution printer-ready artwork for mechanicals Prepare electronic mechanical files for the printer Administrative duties: art returns, filing, paperwork, archiving electronic data scheduling, etc.
Required Skills / Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of Mac programs Highly proficient in Quark Xpress, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, and Microsoft Office programs Strong organizational and interpersonal skills Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently, and with minimal supervision. Good verbal and written communication skills Attention to detail Proactive approach to completing assignments
Experience Needed: 1-2 years professional design experience
Educational Background Required: Bachelor’s Degree Design Portfolio
