Interactive Designer , The Wall Street Journal Position Description The News Graphics department of the Wall Street Journal Online is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill an Interactive Designer position in our New York office. The position requires the creation and correction of original graphics for the website and some repurposing of print graphics for online use. The successful candidate has an interest in information graphics and online media, careful attention to detail and a strict commitment to integrity and accuracy in their work. Our team is a highly creative and enthusiastic group from a range of backgrounds: design, programming, illustration and photography. The position offers a unique opportunity to create work seen by millions every day, touching on a range of subject areas from economics to travel. The interactive designer will also have the opportunity to work on longer term graphics and is encouraged to propose and contribute to a variety of interactive projects. Position Requirements 1-3 years experience in interactive/online media production or related field High level of proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator Familiarity with XML, HTML and CSS Experience with any of the following a plus: Flash/ActionScript 2.0, Javascript, PHP, mySQL. Bachelors degree required.
