The Financial Analyst II position provides financial support to the Editorial group for the Wiley/Blackwell Malden journals thru P&L title performance analysis, editorial payment oversight, distribution cost and inventory COS oversight. Month end accounting close duties are also a priority. In addition, this position is expected to develop financial valuations for new title prospects, and to integrate the successful ones into Wiley systems and processes. Establishing financial budgets for the coming year(s) is critical for divisional budgeting as well as external society reporting and relationship management.
The primary responsibilities of this role will include:
Manage title level reporting for the Malden STM journals by reviewing profit and loss statements on a monthly basis and answering financial questions from Editors to ensure accurate numbers are being reported to Editors and societies. This position will become the key Finance contact for reporting questions for those titles assigned to the position. Responsible for gathering all of the Society payment details in order to oversee the payment process for all Journal Editorial Office payments and Royalty Advances/ Sums due on a monthly basis. Responsible for the month end distribution and inventory COS accruals and analysis. Report and Analyze the issue slippage and subscription renewal data. Develop the financial modeling of potential bids, working with Editorial, etc. For the successful bids, attend and represent finance in all new title Handover meetings along with the production, editorial and marketing departments, for titles in his/her subject area. Special Projects, month end reports and schedules. Establish the coming year budgets, working particularly with Editorial, Content Management, and the Subscriptions group.
Qualifications: BS in Finance or Business Administration or equivalent related experience. One to 2 years experience in General Accounting. Strong analytical skills related to finance/P&L’s Strong communication skills are a must. Independent thinker with the ability to meet deadlines.
