Position Profile:

1105 Media is currently seeking a Director of Event Operations for our growing family of events and conferences.  The Director of Event Operations will have overall responsibility for the logistics of approximately 18 conferences, seminars and events (including a Trade Show 200 event) for the various business units of 1105 Media.  The position will be based in our Falls Church, VA office.

 

This is considered a senior position with high visibility and accountability and reports to the Corporate Vice President of Event Operations.  This role is responsible for operational expenses, scheduling, planning and vendor contracting for a portfolio of trade shows and conferences. 

 

Primary responsibilities include:Manage logistics for events including a Trade Show 200 event, 8 conferences, 5 seminars, and 2 executive summits.  Develop and manage budgets.Lead contract negotiations for venues and all events-related suppliers.Manage relationships with general contractor, convention center, hotel and meetings venues, security, and other ancillary trade show/conference/meeting-related services.Negotiate and supervise food functions including exhibitor-sponsored breakfast briefings, keynote luncheons and show-sponsored receptions.Supervise Operations staff.Manage priorities, provide guidance, processes and structure for team.

 

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:BA/BS in related field is preferred.5+ years of experience in trade show, conference, meeting logistics.Min. 2 years supervisory and/or management experience.  Demonstrated leadership skills desired. Strong contracts negotiating skills.Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to handle stressful situations and challenging environments with tact and diplomacy is a must.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines is also required.Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.  Travel up to 20%
