Digital News Editor --- Northjersey.com

We publish daily and weekly newspapers as well as magazines throughout northern N.J.  Our daily newspapers, The Record and Herald News, have been serving Bergen and Passaic Counties for over 100 years.  The Record has won the "General Excellence Award" as New Jersey's best large daily newspaper (for circulation more than 60,000) in 11 of the past 16 years, including four of the past five years. As the premier provider of news and information, we rely on the principles of being customer-aware and customer-focused.  Our web site, Northjersey.com, functions on the same principles of being customer-aware while providing excellent journalism.

We are seeking a Digital News Editor to ensure that our web site, Northjersey.com, presents timely, accurate and informative information that provides value to the communities we serve.

This position will oversee a staff of three assistant news editors and one breaking news reporter and be responsible for the selection and presentation of breaking news and latest news stories that will appear on the home page of NorthJersey.com and -- working with other editors and producers -- developing stories and multimedia content for the website. Stories and multimedia content will come from various publications that are under the North Jersey Media Group’s umbrella, so the ability to work with various editors is a key requirement of the position.

In order to be successful in this key leadership position, you must have at least five years’ experience working in a supervisory or managerial role on a news web site or news room and strong strategic planning,  organizational and communication skills (written and verbal). A high journalistic integrity and a keen sense of the news are essential.  Multimedia skills are not mandatory, but are preferred.

North Jersey Media Group embraces diversity in our workforce, our products and the communities we serve.  We offer competitive salaries, flexible benefits and inclusive work environment.  EOE.
