Corporate Development Associate

 

Jones and Bartlett Publishers (J&B) is a fast growing educational publisher focused on higher education academic, healthcare and public safety training disciplines.  Backed by Providence Equity Partners - the world’s largest industry-specific private equity firm - J&B is seeking a Corporate Development Associate to assist in evaluating, analyzing and supporting our efforts to grow aggressively through acquisitions. 

 

Role/Responsibilities

 

The Associate will join a team of experienced executives, investment professionals and advisors focused on leveraging J&B’s strong financial backing to build upon the existing, solid platform through strategic, highly accretive acquisitions.  This position will play an integral role in all facets of the acquisition process from in-depth screening and analysis of potential opportunities for strategic fit through negotiation, due diligence, execution and post-closing implementation/integration.

 

This role requires solid financial knowledge with strong analytic and quantitative skills including experience evaluating acquisition opportunities, analyzing financial statements, preparing valuation models and transaction related due diligence.  Responsibilities involve extensive client contact, preparing business case proposals, management presentations and pipeline reporting,

 

Qualifications/Experience/Skills

 

·         Substantive experience in either an M&A/Corporate development group of a corporation or management consulting firm, or an investment bank or similar financial services institution.  Private equity experience is a plus.

·         Technical proficiency in all financial analysis required to support a variety of transactions.

·         Excellent interpersonal skills and language skills, both written and oral.

·         Superior organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects in a time sensitive, deadline driven environment.

·         Broad-based thinker with intellectual curiosity who takes strategic approach and has creative insight and ability, to develop new ideas beyond already analyzed options.

·         Strong academic credentials, MBA advantageous.

 

Compensation includes a competitive base salary, full benefits package and an annual bonus based on individual and company-wide achievement.

 

Full-time only, ideally this is an on-site position, located in Sudbury, MA.
