Content Quality Analyst

Under general supervision, responsible for inspecting and proofing previously edited copy /content to verify that appropriate elements are present, spelled correctly and adhere to AAA standards for Publishing’s Entitlement and retail products, and associated collateral materials. Proofreads and QA’s content in both printed and electronic formats to ensure completeness, timeliness and accuracy. Must provide exemplary customer service to multiple AAA Publishing and national office departments, as well as external data providers.  Supervisory Responsibilities None Duties and Responsibilities 1. Perform quality control by proofing and inspecting previously edited copy (written, typed or electronic material) to ensure that the pagination of text adheres to AAA Publishing’s products standards and specifications. This includes but not limited to: correct spelling and punctuation of text, section & page numbers, running heads, advertising cross-references, table-of-contents, indexes, photo captions & credits, and overall format consistency. (35%) 2. Mark proofs using proofreader marks to indicate to Paginators, Designers, Ad Analysts, Photo Researchers, Editors, GIS Cartographers or the client that changes or corrections are needed. Check revised proofs to ensure that all the corrections have been made. When proofing electronic formats (i.e., Acrobat, Word, Quark, InDesign, etc) use the software’s standard reviewing and proofing format tools. (15%)   3. Check proofs against client rough copy for text on artwork including hand letter text, style, composition and spelling utilizing standard proofreading marks to address errors. (10%) 4. Inspect, scan and verify all UPC, ISBN, and Stock Number Bar Codes for accuracy to ensure that revenue and inventory will be maintained for Retail product lines including Publishing marketing materials or catalogs; as well as for Entitlement products. (5%) 5. Acquire image content from various institutes (i.e. Library of Congress) for use in AAA print products. Reviews, verifies and corrects caption and credit information for the production image tracking list. (10%) 6. Provide instruction, training and work assignments to department temps or contractors as required by production scheduling and needs. Work performed by temps or contractors is under the accountability of this position (10%) 7. Inspect and evaluate all print content, elements and correct placement of logos for compliance to AAA specifications prior to printing contact proofs or transferring files to print vendors. (10%) 8. Verify selected factual content to include properties, phone numbers, locations, etc. contained within Retail products to ensure accuracy of data. (5%)   9. Participates in pre-production meetings, interval planning meetings and post-production reviews for print products to provide historical knowledge or to receive new standards. (5%) 10. Make sure all projects submitted for review follow specific job guidelines by obtaining information from necessary departments to ensure the accuracy of the documents. 11. Perform related duties as required. Requirements Bachelors Degree in English and 3 to 5 years experience as a fulltime proofreader in a professional publishing environment Knowledge of AAA content policies, product specifications and editorial style Knowledge of internal quality control specifications with regard to revenue Ability to function in a teaming environment while balancing multiple projects on strict deadlines Receptive to changes in priorities, able to multi-task and keep track of several tasks at once Ability to stay focused on written work for long periods of time Excellent proofreading skills; comprehensive knowledge of English grammar and usage rules and how to apply them Advanced spelling, punctuation and proofreader symbols skills required Familiarity with foreign languages, particularly of Spanish and French Excellent communication (oral and written) skills Strong organizational and customer service skills Excellent PC skills utilizing Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel; Adobe Acrobat and InDesign
