ACCOUNTING MANAGER
Metro Boston newspaper is currently seeking an Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager will manage the financial operations of the local publication. This position will report to the Managing Director as well as a remote Controller.
This is a hands-on position and this person will not manage any employees, but rather manager the function. They will work in an office with less than 100 employees but be part of a large international organization.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Handle the day-to-day accounting activities, in accordance with GAAP, including maintenance of the general ledger and sub-ledgers, AP, fixed assets, joint-venture accounting, etc.Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations and other analyses related to the month end closing process. Ensure compliance with corporate/local policies and procedures as well as recommendations of both the internal and external auditors. Prepare financial information in accordance with GAAP. Special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:4-7 years related financial and accounting experienceB.S. in Accounting Excellent analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills (oral and written)Superior computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.). Hands on and able to work with minimum supervision. CPA strongly preferred.
