Weld Engineer

Parker Hannifin, the world?s leading diversified manufacturer of motion and control technologies has an
immediate need for a Weld Engineer, Weld/Braze Engineer or Welding Metallurgist at its manufacturing
operation located in the Charleston area.

Responsibilities:

* Evaluate and develop processes for the improvement of manufacturing operations that include welding,
braze, heat treating and cleaning techniques
* Develop welding techniques, procedures and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of
metals
* Utilize knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys
* Conduct research and analysis of materials and processes on assigned products or programs
* Improve existing or develop new welding and brazing techniques
* Utilize structured methods for conducting problem resolution and preventative maintenance investigations
* Evaluate new developments in welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production
processes
* Perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques and materials
* Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops
* Complies with federal, state and aerospace industry regulations
* Refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing
principles and techniques
* Develop material and fabrication procedures for new materials and processes to fulfill engineering requirements
* Work with welders, welding operators and welding technicians to support first time yield
* Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

* B.S. Degree in Welding Engineering, Material Science Engineering or related field
* Practical knowledge of materials and process engineering principles
* Ability to evaluate and assist with supplier material and processing problems
* Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and engineering related software
* Must demonstrate excellent verbal, written and in-terpersonal communication skills
* Ability to work effectively with others and be a par-ticipative team player
* Employee may be required to travel to vendors, customers and / or for training purposes
* Ability to evaluate metallurgical analysis using stan-dard metallurgical methods
* Experience in aerospace or related field a plus.
