USA jobs: Contract Public Speaker
Are you launching your speaking career or just looking for a flexible part-time job that has potential to grow as you wish? Work for Making It Count, a division of Monster Worldwide, the company that launched an industry, and see how far you can go!
As an independent speaker for Making It Count programs, you will serve as an integral member of the largest speaking force in the country. Making It Count speaks to more than 2.5 million students annually through our 45-minute presentations offered to high schools and colleges. We’ve built a business on helping students achieve academic and career success through the art of “edutainment.” Do you have what it takes to empower and entertain? Are you ready to take your speaking skills to a whole new level and a whole new audience?
If the answer is “yes,” become a Making It Count speaker. We are currently recruiting speakers for our upcoming programs, Making Your College Search Count (MCSC) for high school juniors and Making Your College & Career Count (MCCC) for high school seniors. To become a certified speaker, you must learn two provided scripts prior to attending our all-expenses paid professional training. Once certified, all speakers are hired as independent contractors and are not eligible for benefits.
The average speaker will deliver approximately 10-15 presentations per semester depending upon the following:
School needs
Level of your speaking ability
Your availability and flexibility (travel, driving, overnight trips and flights)
SPEAKER CRITERIA:
Associates or Bachelor’s degree (minimum requirement)
Strong stage presence and image of professional success
Excellent public speaking skills
Ability to speak to and engage large (100 – 800) audiences of students and educators
Vocal projection and variance
Flexible schedule during school hours
Immediate access to email and the Internet
Reliable transportation
Ability and willingness to travel up to three hours by car
VIDEO PRESENTATION TIPS (What to do and what not to do)
KEY TIP: We are looking for strong, upbeat, energetic, relatable, conversational speakers from the moment you begin your presentation! We also want to see that you hold this energy throughout!
Video does NOT have to be created by a professional
Video content is open to topic – should be something you are passionate about that will also engage high school students – we are looking for your ability to relate to the students
Please STAND UP during your presentation
Show your enthusiasm – pretend you are presenting to 500 high school students in an auditorium
We do not use podiums – please show us your ability to “work the room”
An introduction to your presentation is not necessary – please set your video to begin with your actual presentation
Professional acting/comedy/news anchor clippings or stories may not truly showcase your ability to present with an engaging, conversational style – please try to avoid these types of submissions
