Telecommunications Team Lead

Job Description:PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:The Telecommunications Lead in the Corporate Network Services – Customer Interface Group manages multiple projects, supporting system design, user change requirements, problem diagnosis, system installation and support, and repair and maintenance for a full range of telecommunications equipment encompassing analog and data technologies. This position works with the end user and provides daily guidance to the Customer Interface team members. The position oversees team members’ participation in projects, MAC work and daily operational issues. In addition, this position works with other CNS groups, Procurement, Voice Applications teams to design new communication systems based on new technology and user requirements. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:* Manages a diverse team of associates with responsibility for selection, training and development, and performance management in order to develop a high performing team. Works with direct reports to develop their skills and talents with the end result of creating a highly professional and productive organization with a global perspective and focus. Coaches team on prioritizing and scoping projects in order to decrease project cycle times. Manages alternate staffing resources.* Estimates staff resource needs. Works with Manager to assign resources to meet project objectives for projects, MAC and problem resolution. Tracks workload Provides input to the Manager for project budgets and manages expenditures to project plan budget.* Reviews existing products, processes, procedures and documentation to be sure that they are current and accurate. Reviews new technology or processes and recommends review or implementation as appropriate. Develops project and service definition in conjunction with the business sponsors, project teams and the Manage. Defines project and operational status, constraints and deliverables. Recommends and defines resource requirements. * Prepares or reviews project documentation and deliverables for self and team members. Assures it is complete, acceptable and in accordance with standards. Facilitates project status meetings with the project team on a regular basis and provides status to the Manager.* Coordinates and implements user change requirements, including feature changes to PBX, specialized systems for trading areas, voicemail systems, recording systems, and teleconferencing equipment. Performs moves, adds, and changes based on office requirements, communicates directly with users to understand their need(s), and ensures user requirements and requests are fully executed by making software changes and by coordinating and scheduling vendor time and access.QUALIFICATIONS:* College degree in a technical area with 8 years working experience with Nortel Voice related products preferred* 7 to 10 years of IT work experience including 4 or more years in an operational and project oriented environment preferred* A minimum of 3 years of people management experience preferred* Experience with projects in multiple technologies and functions preferred* Experience in the Financial Services Industry preferred* Previous exposure to Optivity Telephone Management (OTM), telephone trading systems, and Meeting Place preferred* Knowledge and understanding Servers and utilization in support of Telecommunications equipment also preferred* Ability to supervise, motivate, and coach team members* Ability to work well with people with varying technical abilities and lead an operation and project focused team* Ability to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms* Ability to manage medium to complex projects* Must be able to meet with clients of varying levels * Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem solving skills* Strong negotiation and influencing skills* Strong knowledge of business processes related to business channel supported* Excellent working knowledge of network services provided at the local, long distance, and international level* Strong working knowledge of PBX systems, voice recording applications, remote office telephone systems, and voice mail* Strong customer service skills* Strong trouble shooting experience with Nortel Voice Applications (PBX, Meridian Mail / Call Pilot, MLS)* Experienced and Proficient with ACD and NACD * Experienced with Call Recording, and Mixed Media Messaging Technology * Team player * Flexible/open to change and taking on new responsibilities * Ability to travel and be on call when needed; must be available for both scheduled and unscheduled after hours activity* Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Detail oriented; able to successfully manage a project start to finish at 100% satisfaction * Experienced with Windows XP, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Net Visio* College degree and 4 years of related work experience, or Associate degree and 6 years related work experience, or High School diploma/equivalent and 8 years related work experience requiredT.
