Job Experience:This position is a year plus contract with the option to hire. All candidates must be a US Citizen or GC Holder.Telecommunications Engineer: Position Summary: The incumbent in this position is responsible for installation, design and support of Nortel phone switches, servers, and call center applications; design and programming of call handling scripts and call queuing; supports the end-user telephone sets and peripherals; configuration of PCs to support integration applications and to ensure high quality service. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES . Provides 24/7 support of Nortel phone switches, servers and call center applications.. Configures PCs to support integration applications such as Symposium.. Configures Voice Mail Boxes and IP telephony products.. Works with Enterprise Telecommunications Engineering groups on common and interrelated solutions.. Interfaces with telecommunications providers to ensure high quality service.. Frequent after-hours and weekend switch changes to support the business. CORE COMPETENCIES / KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS . Time management skills and multi-tasking abilities.. Highly technical knowledge of Nortel switching technologies, VoIP, trunking, routing, software and voice telecommunications concepts.. Technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2003 server, Active Directory environments, backup and archival tools and IP networking.. Detail-oriented; flexibility and creativity.. Strong communications skills with all levels within the company and company vendors. EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERINECE REQUIRED . A high school diploma or GED and 3+ years of PBX experience preferred.. Nortel Certified Training in Nortel Switching Technologies to include VoIP, trunking, routing and softwareMinimum Education Required: BachelorYears of Experience Required: 3-5 Years
