Responsibilities of the position include:Provide technical support for systems including responding to Help Desk tickets and working with users to resolve issues, keep users informed as to the status of open problems.Instruct users in use of equipment, software, and manuals.Diagnose and resolves difficult problems in hardware, applications, and operating systems and escalates complex problems to next level of support as appropriate.Perform system imaging for end user PC's.Install and maintain local area network hardware, software, and telecommunications services including personal computers, software applications, printers, servers, switches, phones, etc.Establish and maintain network users, directories, security, and access permissions.Implement scheduled backups of critical systems.Monitor servers and automated backup system health and performance.Investigate problems and work with vendors support to find solutions.Maintain system security and patch levels.Perform server builds, upgrades, performance tuning, data recovery, hot/cold backups, performance and functional testing.Provide technical input for policies and procedures.Develop and maintain accurate documentation for servers.Respond to outages both during business hours and in an after-hours on-call capacity.
Minimum qualifications for the System Administrator include:Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.3-5 years network administration experience.Professional written and oral communication skills are a must. Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
Special consideration will be given to candidates with the following:Administering Tivoli Storage Manager Installing/configuring/troubleshooting Windows 2003 Clustering ServicesInstalling/configuring Citrix Metaframe Presentation Server 3.0 and later
