Sr. Copy Writer
Writes benefit-driven sales copy that facilitates customer buying decisions and motivates purchases. Writes benefit-driven, call-to-action headlines and editorial copy that reinforce spread themes, complement overall design, and advance promotional objectives. May edit copy on assigned catalogs, under supervision of editor or copy manager Manages copy writing and copy production and special projects, as assigned. Proofreading Proofreads test, prior to its release to Merchandise, to ensure accuracy of body copy content, format and display elements. Proofreads pre-bibles to ensure accuracy of body copy content, color order and simply elements, as well as agreement between copy and art elements. Verifies corrections made to pre-bibles; provides final copy approval on bibles and assemblies. Typography Develops typography for copy formats, headlines, promotional devices and other display type, working with Copy Manager, Art/Layout Manager, and Art Director. Develops type, styles and creates libraries, so that text may be efficiently and uniformly composed on computer templates. Specs copy to layouts, working with the Art Director and Production to resolve fit problems. Organization Preps for new catalog production by checking templates, creating library, and updating and distributing tip sheet. Organizes Product information sheets to facilitate proper flow of information and timely and accurate execution of copy. Interfaces with Merchandising, Art and Production throughout production cycle to ensure continuous accuracy of product information and catalog format. Tracks the content and accuracy of covers, switch pages and alternate versions through all stages of writing and proofreading. Databases final version of catalog copy. Handles administrative duties and special projects, as assigned. Training Participates in on-going creative research and computer training. Participates in training new and existing copy staff in basic skills including copy writing, proofreading, procedures, and computer production and technology. Requirements BA in English, Journalism, Marketing, Liberal Arts or Advertising, or equivalent experience. Minimum four years writing experience, two years of which are directly related. Demonstrated ability to monitor projects with minimal direct surpervision. Experience developing promotional concepts. Experience working type in layouts. Copywriting, grammar, desktop publishing, proofreading, communication, organizaiton. Sales promotion, typography, fashion industry; computer production and printing.
