Space Analyst

Established in 1968, Harbor Freight Tools is a fast growing, well established privately held retail company opening stores across the United States.  We currently operate over 270 stores in 44 states with plans to open over 30 stores per year.  We are seeking a Space Analyst to join our growing Category Management team in Camarillo, CA. 



Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop, recommend, and facilitate category specific space merchandising tactics Establish relationships with store managers and actively participate in store resetsWork closely with appropriate category manager and advertising manager to align tactics and implementationProvide local, Area, and Regional schematics for Harbor Freight stores, displays, equipment, and shelving. Local, Area, and Regional schematic creation and updates for all Stores. (70%)Internal relationship building and selling of space merchandising concepts and recommendations (10%)Work with Field Space Execution Team to manage relationship between Stores to coordinate direction of resets and resets schedules. (5%)Create display, equipment, and shelf standards for all Channels in the Region. (10%)Training for advanced learning and career development. (3%)“Inspect what you expect� time in-outlet (2%)Ability to periodically lift, push and pull 50+ pounds, stand, walk, kneel, bend, and reach.Work in corporate office environment and stores with occasional hot / cold environments.


Education and/or Experience:

·  Effective speaking and presentation skills with stores and employees are required.

·  Proficient translation of oral verbalization into a written format is required.

·  Ability to absorb technical information and translate into actionable results is required.

·  Communication and working together with fellow employees and stores in a professional and productive format is required.

·  Knowledge to handle complex situations that require a quick response for issue resolution and development of best practices is required.

·  Analytical experience necessary with intermediate proficiency in computer applications including: Microsoft – Access, Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.

·  Ability to absorb training for software and hardware development is necessary.

·  Translating mathematical numeric data into productive analysis is necessary.

·  Space planning software: Appollo

·  Preferred 2-5 years of Sales and technical experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods or Retail Industry is preferred.  (Background in Supermarket, Convenience Retail and/or Home Improvement Channel and technical experience with intermediate pc software utilization).

·  Prior usage of space planning software preferred

·  High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

·  Bachelor’s degree preferred

·  Valid Driver’s License is required. Driving record within MVR policy guidelines is required.
