Software Development Manager needed to take on worldwide responsibility for the software that drives Amazon.com’s Warehouse Deals team has an immediate opening for a customer focused, technically savvy and business oriented Software Development Manager.  WarehouseDeals.com is an independently run and managed website within the Amazon organization with the goal to become the best retailer for customers to find, discover, and buy refurbished, seconds and close-out inventory at the lowest price and best customer experience.  We operate in five countries and handle the business from end-to-end including operations, pricing and on-site merchandising both on Amazon’s sites, as well as Warehousedeals.com.  This business is currently experiencing more than triple digit year-over-year growth and the goal is to continue at this aggressive pace. As the Software Development Manager of the WarehouseDeals.com, you will provide technical leadership for a mixed-level group of software development engineers. Your scope will be broad and you will have worldwide responsibility for the software that drives Warehouse Deals’ business.  Because of the breadth of the software systems you will own, spanning from the customer-facing pricing software to the operational tools used in the warehouse, you must be driven to create robust, scalable systems in a variety of environments. As the scope of your responsibilities spans diverse functional areas, you must be adept at delegating and building trust with your software developers, project managers, operations customers, and peer software development teams.  You must excel at working with and mentoring both junior and senior software developers.  You must have good intuition for and understanding of scalable operational processes.  You also must be able to work in a highly-demanding, but collegial environment where teamwork is a must.- You have a BS or MS in computer science or a related field- You are extremely technical have a background as a Java or C++ developer building scalable web applications, with a penchant for building elegant and maintainable systems that get the job done with minimal complexity.- You are an analytical, results-oriented software manager- You love to get stuff done, and have a long track-record of shipping user-centric, high-quality software- You have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate effectively with senior management, and an intense customer focus.- You are passionate about developing high-performance teams through rigorous goal setting, disciplined attention to performance metrics, continuous process improvement, and mutual support and mentorship- You like variety in your work and are excited to do everything from setting 5-year direction, to designing technical architectures, to analyzing business metrics, to doing design and code reviews, to project management.- You are a strategic and innovative thinker who is also extremely detail-oriented.- You can handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment- You can collaborate with the product management team to estimate and plan engineering efforts that balance business needs versus technical constraints and meet requirements for functionality, reliability, and scalabilityAmazon.com is recruiting for Seattle-based opportunities.
