Summary: The Information Technology Application Systems Maintenance Team at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation develops and supports the business systems used by foundation employees to manage grants and conduct day-to-day business activities. The SharePoint Support Specialist will work with the Maintenance Supervisor and focus on providing operational support for existing and emerging SharePoint systems. Typical day-to-day activities include Tier 3 technical support, customer needs, and platform maintenance.-Responsibilities/Activities: Resolve technical issues as the Tier 3 support engineer for SharePoint Serve as a point of escalation for Tier 4 SharePoint issues Triage related system bugs & issues and assist with the maintenance of core SharePoint system functionality Identify opportunities for process improvement and the development of complementary or enhanced applications Provide 24/7 business system support with limited on-call responsibilities Collaborate with team members to maintain core business system functionality and uptime Assist with activities that include system deployment, product demonstrations, and issue resolution support Write and maintain support documentation along with other materials-Requirements/Qualifications: Minimum three years experience in a technical support role in an information technology related group, focusing on internal business systems support Experience with change management process, proven ability to support multiple business systems and multi tasking Experience with enterprise level deployments of SharePoint in multi-server farms with multiple environments At least one full year of in-depth experience with MOSS 2007 and WSS v3 administration, including Excel Services, Forms Services, Search, and BDC. Demonstrated experience configuring and supporting SharePoint web applications, permissions, site collections, workflow, lists, views, and web parts Experience with CorasWorks, WCM, and SharePoint Portal Server 2003/WSSv2 preferred Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills Strong technical writing skills to develop and maintain related documentation Excellent follow-through and attention to detail Strong initiative; able to self-manage. Comfortable with ambiguity and able to work through it to get the right things done. Understands how to use communication channels and escalates appropriately.
