Senior Research Scientist (Biomedical Applications)

SUMMARY: Develop new technology platforms and expand existing capabilities; develop and contribute to technical approaches; develop, conduct, and support programs focused on material engineering for biomedical applications, including targeted or triggered therapeutic delivery, micro and nano encapsulation formulation and processes, biosensors and engineering and drug delivery devices; write proposals, develop cost estimates, and interact with clients; manage technical projects, including budget oversight, schedule, interacting with customers, directing technical staff, and preparing reports; assist in promotion of work and capabilities to commercial and government including synthesis, formulation, physical characterization, and performance by in vitro and in vivo methods.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Requires a PhD and 5 years experience in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Bioengineering or equivalent with emphasis in Biosensor development and drug delivery for biotechnology and or biomaterials engineering, industrial or post-doctoral experience with demonstrable evidence of self-guided research; strong background in synthetic method, and materials characterization, and analytical methods, such as HPLC/GC, DSC, TGA, TGA, IR, XDR, Particle size analysis, SEM, AFM, NMR, and Mass Spectroscopy; experience in relevant technical areas such as encapsulation, controlled release, nanoscale assembly, microfabrication, and execution of medical device testing protocols preferred. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
