This role is required to work a compressed work week, Thursday through Sunday.
Reporting to the Managing Editor, this position is primarily assigned to weekends and is responsible for the content, style and production of World Report. The Senior Producer is responsible for planning and executing the program in terms of editorial quality and overall quality control, taking editorial leadership for some projects and specials and functioning as an editorial leader in the newsroom. The Senior Producer leads a small, vibrant team, and works alongside other units in the newsroom, including the assignment desk, plus other programs on radio, television and digital media.
Qualifications
We're looking for a candidate with the following:
A University degree or equivalent with five years' experience of which three must involve work in broadcasting or a closely related industry, which is directly related to the area of assignment
Solid journalistic skills and highly developed vetting skills
Superior coaching and mentoring skills
Highly developed production skills, including strong ability to produce a variety of program formats and experience in field production
Advanced skills in iNews Dalet and DTV
An understanding of the relationship between network and regional programming
Highly developed computer skills as well as technical skills, including field recording, and experience using a variety of equipment
A track record of completing assignments independently while communicating effectively and cooperatively.
Self-motivated with highly developed interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment
Open to new ideas and approaches and a familiarity with CBC News and Current Affairs Programming on all platforms
Flexibility to work other shifts, including weekdays and overnights.
