Senior Manager, Transmission Team, Wholesale Power
We are currently seeking a Project Manager for our Wholesale Power group in our Fairfax, VA office. ICFs Energy & Resources practice offers results and solutions to a broad range of clients in the energy industry in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. We have advised both private and public sector clients in all facets of the energy industry for more than 30 years.
The Wholesale Power groups business is in generation and transmission asset valuation, risk analysis, portfolio management, power market design, litigation, and regulatory analysis. The teams work provides decision analytics and strategic support for new investments, mergers and acquisitions, asset management and commercial contracting, financing due diligence, and restructuring. Our clients are in both the private and public sectors and they include utilities, independent power producers, financial institutions, and city, state and federal governments.
A Project Manager in the wholesale power practice has an in-depth understanding of power market issues, strong quantitative skills for market analysis, forecasting experience using optimization models and excellent writing and verbal communication skills. A project manager should have experience related to economic and technical aspects of power markets including but not limited to:
Forward power price curve analysis
Power plant asset valuation for development, sales or acquisition.
Power sector deregulation
Evaluation of power purchase and tolling agreements
Expansion planning for generation companies
Environmental compliance
Transmission analysis and
Financial analysis
General responsibilities include:
Working closely with both junior and senior staff members on the areas outlinedabove where his/her role is to manage the day-to-day aspects of a project
Serving as primary point of contact for the client therefore he/she should be comfortable presenting findings of an analysis both internally and externally
Managing several projects at a time while also responsible for training and mentoring junior staff members and assumes a supervisory role in managing their day to day activities
Contributing to building business primarily through proposal writing.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Masters Degree in a quantitative field such as Economics, Math, Finance, Operations Research, Engineering
8+ years of experience related energy industry experience. Knowledge of linear optimization is an advantage. Previous consulting experience is a desired.
Demonstrated quantitative skills and modeling skills
Proficient computer skills Microsoft Office (Excel and Access)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Desire to work in a dynamic team environment
Organized, detail oriented, ability to prioritize and multi-task
A strong interest in economics / finance and the energy industry
