Creative, responsible, customer-oriented people are drawn to NGS's technical strength, our dynamic workplace and the exceptional opportunities for personal and professional growth.  NGS offers a competitive salary, training reimbursement, education reimbursement, certification bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package.   Nortel Government Solutions has an immediate opening for a Senior Information Systems Engineer located in Scott AFB, IL.  The candidate will be a member of an 11-person team that provides technical network design, design testing, administration, configuration management, and troubleshooting services to the Air Force Communications Agency (AFCA) and its Technology and Interoperability Facility (TIF).  The TIF is comprised of numerous labs with various servers and infrastructure devices to include virtualization services, routers, switches, and telephone systems.  The Air Force Integrated Collaborative Environment (AFICE) within the TIF provides network services to DoD and non-DoD customers on the Defense Research Engineering Network.  The focus of this position is network performance optimization, network troubleshooting, security enhancement, regulatory compliance assessment, and integration and testing of new technologies.Approximately 0 - 25% travel required to Air Force locations worldwide. Candidate must be able to obtain a DOD security clearance.  In addition, duties will include: Monitor and troubleshoot experimental network lab and optimize for peak performance throughout Local Area Networks (LAN) and a Wide Area Network (WAN) Participate in network-wide test events designed to provide optimal throughput of various types of network traffic in a models and simulation environment Work closely with Information Assurance security personnel to maintain security patch levels of servers and infrastructure devices Provide consulting services for the design, test, and evaluation of new or emerging technologies Other network integration services as needed by the customer  Job Requirements: Education: Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Experience: 7-9 yrs Education/Experience: Bachelors Degree and 7 years of related experience. Qualifications: Experience in IP data networking, switching, routing, and security Ability to analyze, configure, and maintain a complex LAN and WAN Solid working knowledge of routing concepts (including OSPF, EIGRP, Multicast), switching concepts (including STP, VTP, Trunking), and security concepts (including SNMP, 802.1x, ACLs, VPNs) Experience with Network Management tools.  Current TIF tools include Solar Winds Orion, Cisco Security Manager, CS-MARS, Wireshark, and CEMC SMARTS InCharge Strong organizational, problem-solving, written, and oral communication skills Ability to learn new technologies and concepts quickly and apply that knowledge effectively Ability to work both independently and with a team to manage multiple tasks and projects Ability to create technical documentation and network diagrams as deliverables to customers Working knowledge of the MS Office Suite (Work, PowerPoint, and Excel)    Additional Skills: Experience in DoD Network Control Centers or Network Operations and Security Centers Experience with Voice over IP including Call Manager Experience with network analysis tools Experience with TACLANE Experience with Microsoft 2003 Server and Active Directory Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
