POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Database Analyst has responsibility for the design, creation, implementation, administration and support for Oracle 8i/9i/10g databases running on UNIX/Linux and Windows 2003 platforms serving Merix world wide user community.  The Senior Database Analyst creates the logical data model and designs the structure and content of the physical database, including indexes, triggers, stored procedures, RAC, backup/recovery, security and access rights.

 

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·  Support an Oracle 10g database environment, including backup/recovery, RAC and disaster recovery functionality, for Merix Global Oracle eBusiness Suite applications.

·  Physical database design, implementation and administration of complex databases supporting enterprise wide applications.

·  Proactive monitoring, development and implementation of solutions for Oracle environments for performance, space utilization, backup and problem resolution using Oracle utilities.

·  Provide technical support to application development project teams. Tasks including but not limited to SGA tuning, SQL and PL/SQL tuning, Parallel Query, Partitioning, Data Warehouse, Data Store, Data Mart, etc.

·  Provide technical support of peripheral and support systems and software: UNIX, Linux, Shell programming, Oracle utilities, etc.

·  Production support of Oracle database environments operating in a 7x24 environment.

·  Problem resolution, documentation and follow-up with both internal and external support staff and vendors.

 

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

The successful Candidate will have:

·  A demonstrated track record in the design, implementation and support of Enterprise-wide Oracle 8i/9i/10g databases running on UNIX/Linux and Windows 2003 platforms.

·  A strong working knowledge of Oracle utilities, programming tools and data migration techniques.

·  Experience with database design techniques, data modeling tools, backup/recovery strategies, RAC, security, performance tuning and problem resolution.

·  The ability to effectively analyze complex technical issues and provide timely solutions.

·  The ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of application development project teams.

·  The ability to prioritize and manage the database work queue, maintain project objectives and scope, report status and deliver quality results meeting project schedules.

·  Outstanding written and verbal communications skills and proven leadership experience.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT CONSIDERATIONS

Occasional domestic and international travel required.
