This position will also be responsible for providing guidance and direction on EHS regulatory and compliance issues.Job ResponsibilitiesActs as a subject matter expert in various interactions with EHS staff and divisional staff to provide counsel regarding the impact of EHS regulations on various business decisions.Responsible for managing assigned litigation matters through use of outside counsel, as appropriate. Provides outside counsel with required guidance, documents, support and records necessary for the litigation process.Interprets statutes, regulations and agency guidance and recommends course of action, which allows Wyeth to operate its facilities in compliance with those applicable requirements.Participates in the assessment, resolution and negotiation of remedies associated with environmental remediation work.Provides general legal oversight and review for EHS audits.Assists with the EHS department legal transaction work required for business or real estate acquisitions or divestitures.Develops or assists in the development, as appropriate, and oversees or facilitates the implementation of action plans to address any EHS related issues.Assists Sr. Corp Counsel in the development and implementation of strategic plans and objectives for the EHS Department.Basic QualificationsJD degree and 5+ years or experience in a law firm or in-house legal department in the EHS law and regulation area;Experience with EHS regulatory and compliance issues;Admitted to and a member in good standing of a State or the DC bar in the United States;Excellent written and verbal communication skills; and,Ability to travel domestically and internationally 25% of timeRelocation is available for this position.Wyeth offers competitive compensation and benefits programs, including child-care subsidies, flex-time, business casual attire, educational assistance and professional development programs.
