Section Manager, Investment Technology

Job Description:PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:The Section Manager is responsible for managing the Investments Technology relationship with the Investment Operations senior management team. This role is referred to as the IT Channel Manager and is directly responsible for partnering with the Investment Operations organization in developing a technology strategy that accomplishes or supports their business goals. The incumbent will be responsible for defining, resourcing, and implementing technology projects supporting that strategy. Investment Operations is a highly complex technical environment. Several technology and business operation vendors deliver the middle and back office technical functions of corporate actions, reconciliation, settlement, and accounting for mutual funds and separate accounts. The incumbent is responsible for the integration of these systems within the technology strategy for IO as well as the best integration and on-going support of these systems across IT. Additionally, the Channel Manager will provide thought leadership on solutions, or enhanced capabilities by leveraging their knowledge and experience within IT’s architecture and strategy group.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:* Partners with Investment Operations Management to develop a technology strategy that incorporates the critical vendors and in-house applications and leverages enterprise architecture and tools. This strategy includes current and future states but also the transition phases to move from current to future state. In addition to Investment Operations managers and Business Systems Support, this position works directly with IT Production Services, COEs, Vendor Manager, and Project Services to ensure optimal leverage of and value from the vendors and their technology products. This position is responsible for ensuring successful integration of critical vendors supporting the strategic direction of Investment Operations, managing the alignment of systems within the TRP architecture, utilizing these systems to ensure successful business solutions, and providing technical leadership to business partners as well as to external partners. * This position is responsible for managing the delivery of multiple, highly complex IT initiatives that directly support Investment Operations. These key systems enable critical support toward Global Operating Systems, from trading through performance calculations and sales support. These initiatives include, but are not limited to, SWIFT, HiNet, HiPerformance, Mosiki, TLM – COAC, ETS, and Recon, Trade Support Automation, Reference Data, and Global Operating Platform. This position is responsible for managing the delivery of on time, accurate and quality data to offices outside the United States in support of Trading and Client Services. * This position is responsible for driving continuous improvement to business process and business results based on the enterprise capability of systems analysis and planning. Works closely with business and technical leadership serving as an expert resource, bringing forth opportunities to leverage technical knowledge to better the business and influence decisions regarding any business process change. This position is responsible for creating sustained systems availability.* This position is responsible for the development, training, and performance management of a management team of Project Managers and Project Leads. QUALIFICATIONS:* Prior experience in business operations management preferred* Project Management Certificate (PMI/PMP) preferred* MBA or MS in Finance or Technology preferred* Prior knowledge of and experience in Asset Management Industry preferred* 10-15 years of IT and business/financial industry work experience with 5 of those years in Project Management role* Demonstrated experience in translating business strategy into a technical strategy* Demonstrated experience in successfully leading large scale, complex technology projects* Experience in managing large-scale technology vendors* Demonstrated experience managing the full software development life cycle, concept to application support* Ability to successfully partner and communicate with all levels of an organization* Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively both in IT, with business management throughout Investment Operations as well as within Fixed Income and Equity.* Demonstrated ability to influence and impact the business * Strong interpersonal skills and ability to forge relationships resulting in successful partnerships* 5 -7 years of direct management responsibilities* Demonstrates political savvy and professionalism* Experience as a programmer or analyst in the full software development life cycle* Strong negotiation skills * Business acumen* Customer-focused* Proficiency with Microsoft Project* College degree and 8 years of related work experience, or * Associate degree and 10 years related work experience, or * High School diploma/equivalent and 12 years related work experience requiredT.
