Job Description

The successful Driver will contribute to the top five corporate goals to ensure that Nicholas & Company is the consistent first choice of our customers and team members.  Individual is responsible for safe and timely delivery and unloading of products to foodservice customers within assigned route. 

 

Duties and ResponsibilitiesDouble check invoice to be certain appropriate product and number of cases are unloaded and put away to customer satisfaction at each stop Safely drive semi-truck/tractor trailer to make deliveries to customers on route in the order assigned by the routing department Report any routing changes, problems with timely delivery to supervisor Report any customer issues to supervisor at the time of occurrence Operate CADEC computer to track stops and location Check invoices for credit terms at each delivery stop and collect funds where needed Turn in reconciliation sheet along with collected funds and all invoices to Driver Check in daily Collect, sign, and correctly code all invoices Obey all traffic rules, complete thorough pre and post trip inspections, & immediately report accidents or damage Keep equipment clean and report any vehicle repair issues immediately Meet company attendance and hygiene standard requirements

 

RequirementsMust have valid driver’s license and dependable vehicle Must be able to lift 20-75 lbs. repetitively Must be willing to learn, and work as part of a committed team Strong interpersonal and communications skills Well organized with strong attention to deadlines Valid CDL-A license with clean MVR Meet all DOT requirements Current medical card Items to bring on first day:  work boots (not shoes), clipboard, flashlight, gloves, lock & chain for hand truck Must be able to perform essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately and safely, with or without reasonable accommodation and without creating threat or harm Must comply with all company policies and procedures, as well as, state, federal and safety regulations

 

Other2-5 years sales and/or food service background strongly preferred Looking for a motivated self-starter who is willing to work hard Ability to provide superior service to customers Desire to invest in, not just a job, but a long-term career

 

Expectations within first full year employmentParticipate in formalized training to successfully pass evaluation (meet all DOT requirements) Satisfactorily execute duties as listed above Demonstrate effective time management by routinely meeting window requirements Follow up within 24 hours on all customer needs and requests
