Research Engineer (Manufacturing)
SUMMARY: Develop process standards; bring new equipment online and update current operating procedures related to our printed circuit board fabrication processes; train current staff on the operation of equipment; evaluate and upgrade Printed Wiring Assembly (PWA) fabrication processes for high reliability-low volume space flight assemblies; address process issues pertaining to PWA manufacturability, packaging, high-reliability and low re-work soldering; clean, stake and coat assemblies; update, improve and maintain circuit board fabrication processes including automated soldering processes, hand soldering processes and reworking of electronic assemblies; review and develop work flow planning documents for fabricating assemblies in coordination with design staff to optimize work flow; support customer and NASA audits of relative processes; lead resolution of PWA fabrication problems, conduct experiments, monitor workmanship and develop procedures.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Requires a BS degree in Engineering, preferably in manufacturing with 2-5 years experience with printed circuit board fabrication. Quality training such as six sigma or similar a plus. Must have experience in hand and reflow solder processes; experience in staking and coating desired; NASA solder (or solder inspection) certification desired. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
