Research Engineer (Electronic Systems)
SUMMARY: Perform full cradle to grave design perspective working with senior engineers and customers to architect high reliability electronics systems for use in NASA, DoD, and commercial spacecraft, as well as other high-reliability applications; responsible for taking systems from concept to implementation through delivery of flight qualified systems for launch; develop microprocessor / microcontroller / DSP based computers with digital and analog high performance interfaces, utilizing FPGAs, A/Ds, D/As, SDRAM, FLASH, etc; test support of hardware (including field tests).
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Requires a BS degree in Electrical Engineering with 4 years experience designing digital electronics, including microprocessors, DSP's, microcontrollers, analog electronics, and programmable logic devices (FPGAs, PLDs) and 1 year experience with PSPICE analog circuit simulation. Experience in Verilog a plus; experience in prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and verification of electronic designs; familiarity with CompactPCI, CAN or FireWire a plus. Field support may require travel to customers' facilities, NASA field centers, and military basis; priority will be given to candidates with co-op, TA, or other related job experience; must have strong verbal and written skills. Some shift work may be required. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
